Say goodbye to slimy water bowls! The CuBowl is the first — and only — bowl featuring antimicrobial, copper-plated stainless steel. Copper has long been known to kill bacteria and prevent that all-too-familiar slime layer from developing in the first place (there’s a reason it’s used in plumbing!).

Copper is for water bowl use only. Not to be used as a food bowl. Copper naturally darkens. We recommend polishing as needed using lemon juice.

While copper is safe for water, it’s worth noting that the CuBowl is not meant for food use. The bowls are not lacquered and acidic substances, such as certain dog foods, could leach copper. Municipal water is never acidic, as it would ruin the city’s water pipes, so there is no worry with proper use.

Care & Additional Information:

Copper is an essential part of all cats' and dogs' diet. Copper is needed for the development of red blood cells and the formation of collagen, bone and connective tissue among other important functions. In the US, dog food must contain a minimum of 7.3mg of copper per kg of food to be marketed as “complete and balanced”. Many pet food manufacturers fortify their products with supplemental copper. For comparison, the average leach rate for 1 kg of copper in a water rinse is 0.387mg per week. The amount of copper that leaches into water is far less than the legally required minimum amount of copper in "complete and balanced" dog and cat food. Stainless steel, however, leaches a tiny amount of chromium and nickel into water.

Dogs that have been diagnosed with Copper Storage Disease, or a breed that is succeptible to copper storage disease, should not use copper Cubowls as their primary water bowl.

CuBowls are hand wash only. You will find it very easy to clean and rinse out your pet bowl when it doesn't have bacteria glued to all over the inside!

I had been looking for these bowls for sometime and was so happy to find them at my local pet shop. They are excellent quality and require little to no cleaning if you use filtered water. Definitely a must for Florida dogs.

I was astonishingly surprised at how well this copper bowl worked. The logistics are so cool. We are huge fans of this copper bowl. Heath wise for our dog it couldn't be any cleaner also it is super easy to change the water out when you do refill. Not to mention the copper aesthetics of the bowl in a home are so appealing on top of the benefits that come along with it.

I have had one of the copper bowls for three months and it actually works. No slime. We used to have regular metal bowls and had to scrub them out every day, they would get a film in them. Now I can just rinse it out and refill. I like it so well I am ordering two more to replace the rest of the water dishes.

Just got my new copper bowl and I could not be happier! So cool that this bowl will help prevent bacteria from growing in my dog's water bowl... and it looks great in our kitchen. Thanks Feed! -Marissa, Milo, and Spunky
